Melbourne, Australia – July 19th, 2010: M2M Connectivity Pty. Ltd. has signed to become a distributor in Australia and New Zealand for Opengear’s ACM50004-G, a 3G device server and secure remote management appliance.
The Opengear ACM5004-G device server is well suited to remote IT device management, industrial applications, utility monitoring, telecommunications monitoring, metering (power, solar), point of sale and gaming. A wide range of inbuilt applications enables the appliances to be deployed with little additional configuration.

Opengear’s ACM5004-G includes wide device connectivity options including serial (RS232, RS422, RS485), USB (flash drives, UPS, etc) and digital I/O (dry contact sensors, relays). On the networking side the ACM5004-G connects over a 3G network.
The ACM5004-G has an internal Sierra Wireless MC8795v quad band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) 3G HSPA modem for flexible out-of-band access. The product line is powered by 250MHz ARM9 RISC processors running embedded Linux. Opengear’s products are designed in Australia and are supported locally. A custom development kit is also available for those wanting to run additional applications in the appliances. All models provide a high level of security including HTTPS, SSH, IPSec and OpenVPN with comprehensive authentication (RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+ and RSA SecurID).
Typical deployment scenarios include –
– Console Management of remote IT and Network gear
– Remote monitoring of IT, network, power (AC or Battery),temperature, dry contact sensors
– Remote power cycling of hung or unstable devices
– Alerting via SMS, email or SNMP on console logs, environmental, power and user access
– Remote serial COM ports over LAN, WAN or Cellular wireless
– Data logging from serial devices to local flash, remote storage or portal
– VPN gateway/router (IPSec and OpenVPN)
