Melbourne, Australia – February 27, 2012:  M2M Connectivity can now supply the new Hughes 9502 Inmarsat BGAN M2M terminal.  This 9502 modem is an all-IP BGAN M2M satellite terminal with low power consumption, offering affordable end-to-end IP data connectivity.  It is designed for remote M2M applications requiring bandwidth beyond existing satellite M2M capabilities.

Inmarsat BGAN M2M delivers a global, IP-based service for users needing higher levels of data availability and performance in permanently unmanned environments.  The system provides a fixed IP service with 2-way throughput speeds in excess of 100 Kbps. The 9502 IP satellite terminal provides reliable connectivity over the Inmarsat BGAN network for IP SCADA and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications in industry sectors such as environmental, SmartGrid, pipelines, compressors, well site automation, and out-of-band management to primary site communications.

Providing end-to-end IP connectivity to off-the-grid sites, the low power consumption (<1 W idle) of the BGAN M2M 9502 delivers IP connectivity to power-challenged locations that rely upon solar battery arrays involving sensitive power budgets.

The 9502 modem kit includes 10 meters of RF cabling and external antenna.  The user can position the antenna away from the transceiver while securing the modem and SIM card inside a premise or enclosure to better protect against unauthorized use, theft, and vandalism.
