Factors driving the growing market for M2M solutions include the growing range of successful M2M applications, regulatory mandates, penetration of 3G technology, the launch and anticipated growth in use of 4G technology and the gradually decreasing cost of hardware.
As this busy year comes to an end, we look forward to an exciting 2013 with new high speed 4G/LTE products and more satellite module/modem options on offer.  Featured in this newsletter are just a few of the new products on offer next year.

New Sierra Wireless MC7305 LTE/HSPA+ Module

The Sierra Wireless MC7305 LTE
module is ideal for mobile computing and networking applications.  The MC7305 can be easily integrated
into a variety of devices requiring
high speed LTE connectivity
including applications with video download, routing over LTE, and in laptop/netbook computers.
The MC7305 delivers up to 100Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds over LTE with fall-back to all 3G/HSPA+ neyworks.  With  enhanced location capabilities using A-GPS, GPS Xtra, and Glonass, this module also provides support for Linux and Windows 7 and Windows 8.  The MC7305 has been optimized for low power consumption, enabling longer battery life in applications.

New NV08C-MCM GNSS Receiver

The NVO8C-MCM receiver features full GNSS support of GPS, GLONASS, QZSS and is also ready for future systems including GALILEO and COMPASS.  This integrated satellite navigation receiver is ideal for use in high volume applications such as IVSS and feature options such as dead reckoning interface.
The compact NV08C-MCM offers low power consumption, high sensitivity and high performance of GNSS signal acquisition and tracking.  The assisted GPS/GLONASS/GALILEO and advanced power saving modes are supported and the multiple satellites available from GNSS constellations ensure higher availability of navigation signal.
Also available is an evaluation/development kit (NV08C-EVK-MCM) to enable developers to quickly familiarise themselves with the NV08C-MCM’s features and functionalities.

New connectBlue Bluetooth Low Energy Products

The Bluetooth Serial Port Module OBS421 is a Bluetooth v4.0 module with UART interface for transparent serial data transmissions.  The OBS421 is a dual-mode module so the serial data can be sent either using Classic Bluetooth technology via SPP, or using Bluetooth low energy technology via the connectBlue Low Energy Serial Port Service.  The embedded Bluetooth stack means you can be up and running quickly as there is no need for a driver or stack in your host. The module is fully Bluetooth qualified and radio type approved for Europe, Japan, US and Canada. It also has the connectBlue standard interface for compatibility over time and radio technologies. The OLS425/OLS426 Bluetooth Low Energy Serial Port Module is a complete Bluetooth Smart OEM product with UART logic level interface. The module embeds firmware with the connectBlue Low Energy Serial Port Service for replacing serial cables or accessing UART devices using Bluetooth low energy technology. The module is fully Bluetooth qualified and radio type approved for Europe, US and Canada. Radiocrafts KNX

M2M Connectivity offers Radiocrafts modules designed for Home and Building Automation systems using the wireless KNX protocol as defined by the KNX Association.
The pin-compatible modules support complete KNX RF Multi protocol and makes Interoperation between Wireless M-Bus and KNX RF possible. M2M Connectivity has  modules operating on 433 MHz with versions at 868 and 902-928 MHz, using Listen Before Talk (LBT) to reduce collisions. One receiver can be linked with up to 64 transmitters, enabling very large RF networks. The KNX modules can be used with S, A and E modes of installation and features automatic battery supervision and signal strength information.  KNX developer kits and IESM boards are also available.

Tech Tip

Tech Tip:   The ALEOS platform on GX400 allows to check status of the unit via SMS
It requires the unit to be configured in control mode.Once the unit is configured in SMS control mode, you need to send “STATUS” and the unit will respond with
RSSI, GPS coordinates, WAN IP Address, Time etc.

Apart from status of the Gx400, you can also reset the unit (send SMS “RESET”) AND control Digital I/O on the unit via SMS.
