M2M Connectivity

Beecham Research reports growth recovery from 2009’s global recession with shipments of M2M cellular modules reaching 30 million worldwide this year and growth rates accelerating into 2011. Contributing to this trend are the activities of network operators, currently and rapidly expanding their M2M presence.
Most apparent is the accelerated adoption of M2M service delivery platforms (SDPs), which enable the management of cellular connections to remote devices and machines and also act as provisioning, management, and billing platforms for connected devices.
The Sierra Wireless AirPrime SL6087 has won the very prestigious GSMA award for best wireless module.  Of the 18 modules competing from 5 leading module manufacturers, the GSMA award was presented to Sierra Wireless for the AirPrime SL6087 based on its functionality and attractive pricing.
We anticipate a busy 2011 and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

New Radiocrafts RC1140-KNX1 Module

RC1180-KNX1The new compact RC1140-KNX1 module is designed for home and building automation systems using the wireless KNX protocol as defined by the KNX Association. The embedded protocol supports KNX-RF 1.1 and KNX Ready, and can be used for unidirectional and bidirectional devices, also in battery operated systems.
The RC1140-KNX1 module is a surface-mounted high performance transceiver measuring only 12.7 x 25.4 x 3.3 mm and can easily be integrated into any sensor or actuator. A UART interface is used for serial communication and configuration. An antenna is connected directly to the RF pin.
Radiocrafts provides customers with an easy transition to KNX from compatible products with the new KNX product series. Inter-operation between Wireless M-Bus and KNX-RF is also possible using the new module.
In addition to the KNX module we will be supplying a Sierra Wireless Fastrack Xtend modem with inbuilt KNX module to act as a wireless gateway.
