New Director appointed to lead channel and direct sales

Melbourne, 2 June, 2025: M2M One, a Semtech company, has today launched a new satellite solution – combining satellite airtime and hardware – to keep remote and critical industries connected across ANZ.

M2M One are ANZ’s leading industrial IoT data experts providing connectivity and managed data services for 850k+ active IoT devices – nationally and internationally.

M2M One Satellite Airtime is Australia’s first industrial IoT satellite solution which combines data plans paired with premium hardware.

The service will enable M2M One channel partners to offer satellite connectivity on leading networks including Iridium and Inmarsat.

Kat Dempsey, Senior Director for Revenue and Services APAC Semtech, said: “Satellite connectivity plays a vital role in supporting Australian industries, yet current solutions remain expensive and complicated – leaving customers to independently source, integrate, and manage their own data and hardware.

“By listening to our customers and drawing on our experience as ANZ’s leading IoT airtime experts, robust operator relationships and broad hardware portfolio, we are reshaping the market by delivering simplified satellite connectivity solutions.”

M2M One Satellite Airtime is designed for mission critical applications, providing back-up should land-based systems (cellular) fail. Target industries include mining, energy, agriculture, general logistics, fleet management, defence, aviation, autonomous systems and emergency services.

Key applications are asset and vehicle tracking, environmental monitoring, conditions monitoring, critical communication, wellness wearables, surveillance and site safety in remote locations.

M2M One has appointed Byron Thanoupoulos, former director at global technology company Asurion, to launch the solution and grow M2M One’s customer base. He assumed the role of Director, Product Management, IoT Connected Services – APAC – in January.

“M2M One has long set the benchmark for excellence in IoT services, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team as we expand into satellite connectivity,” says Thanoupoulos.“With its strong foundation and customer-first mindset, M2M One is uniquely positioned to lead the industry in delivering next-generation satellite solutions,” he adds.

M2M One Satellite Airtime will be supported by hardware from IoT hardware specialists M2M Connectivity – Australia’s largest distributor and supplier of IoT devices, representing 30 global manufacturers – and a team of local IoT engineers.

M2M One will offer satellite bundles combined airtime and hardware in tiers to meet the requirements of small or large deployments. Additionally, airtime and hardware will be offered as standalone products.

“We have worked closely with our partners and customers through proof-of-concept initiatives and targeted projects to gain valuable insights and lessons. These learnings, combined with our global perspective and strategic partnerships, are driving our ability to deliver simplified, customer-focused solutions to market,” says Kat Dempsey.

M2M One Satellite Airtime will operate in Australia and New Zealand – building on M2M One’s existing customer base of deployments which include small vessel monitoring for AssetLink Global, critical communications for the Country Fire Authority, and Emergency satellite connectivity for the NSW Rural Fire Service.
